DRC: 2,916 mining titles listed throughout the national territory in 2021

The mining sector in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) remained competitive, attractive and resilient during 2021 despite the economic devastation following restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Technical Unit for Coordination and Mining Planning (CTCPM) identified, in 2021, a total of 2,916 mining titles throughout the national territory of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Published by this department of the Ministry of Mines, this document is a compilation of key information by province, namely:

• Holders of mining and quarry rights by province;

• Holders of the approvals of counters for the purchase and sale of precious and semi-precious mineral substances of artisanal production by province;

• Holders of authorizations for entities processing and/or transforming mineral substances, by province;

• Approved commercial mining product analysis laboratories, by province;

• Mining cooperatives, by province;

• Environmental studies offices;

• And mining and quarrying agents, by province.

Of all the provinces listed, the province of Haut-Katanga is in the lead with 699 mining titles listed, followed by the province of Lualaba with 542 mining titles, and 233 mining titles for Kongo Central which climbs to third position. .

Apart from the three provinces mentioned above, here is the situation of mining titles in the rest of the provinces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC):

• Tanganyika: 231 listed mining titles;

• Tshopo: 142
mining titles;

• South Ubangi: 7;

• North Kivu: 143;

• Sankuru: 19;

• Maniéma: 154;

• North Ubangi: 5;

• Mai-Ndombe: 2;

• Lomami: 23;

• Kwilu: 12;

• Kwango: 82;

• Kinshasa: 30;

• Kasai Oriental: 55;

• Kasai Central: 45;

• Kasai: 152;

• Ituri: 100;

• Haut-Uélé: 110;

• Haut-Lomami: 93;

• Bas-Uélé: 37 listed mining titles.
