DRC Exported 11.6M carats of Diamonds Worth $145.9M in 2022.
The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) exported more than 11.6 million carats of diamonds during the year 2022, informs a report from the Ministry of Mines.
These exports generated a total amount of 145.9 million US dollars, the same source indicates.
Total production in 2022 is 10.255 million carats. Compared to that of the year 2021 which was 12.973 million carats, there is a drop of 2.717 million carats, or 20.94%.
Diamond production in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) remains dominated by the artisanal sector with a production of around 6,683,015.39 carats, or 65.09%; 3,578,821.27 industrially mined carats, or 34.85%; and 6,256.10 carats from semi-industrial mining, or 0.06%.
Industrial production is provided by the Anhui Congo Mining Investment Company (SACIM) with 3,488,431.38 carats, or 97.81%, and the Minière de Bakwanga (MIBA) with 78,028.03 carats, or 2.18%.
The Ministry of Mines indicates that the KABE company was added among the diamond production companies in 2022.
In October 2022, the KABE company captured and exported 6,180.93 carats.
In the year of the year 2022, 12 provinces of the country out of the 26 were the base of this production of diamonds as follows:

β’ Kasai: 228,794.68 carats, or 3.42%;
β’ Kasai-Central: 181,437.74 carats, or 2.71%;
β’ Kwango: 30,550.20 carats, or 0.45%;
β’ Tshopo: 2,290.56 carats, or 0.03%;
β’ Sankuru: 1,836.74 carats, or 0.03%;
β’ Kwilu: 1,676.54 carats, or 0.03%;
β’ Ituri: 128.60 carats, or 0.0019%;
β’ Lomami: 33.82 carats, or 0.00%;
β’ Kongo Central: 22.82 Carats, or 0.00%;
β’ Bas-UΓ©lΓ©: 17.13 carats, or 0.0003%;
β’ South Kivu: 9.30 carats, or 0.00%.
