DRC’s total sum of exports of “3T” tin products in the first half of 2022 is estimated at 347,878,393.64 USD

Statistical data from the Technical Cell for Coordination and Mining Planning (CTCPM), published during this month, indicate that tin products, namely cassiterite, coltan and wolframite, commonly known as 3T (Tin, Tantalum and Tungsten ), come from the Eastern Provinces of the Republic, specifically Maniema, North Kivu, South Kivu, Haut-Katanga, Haut-Lomami, Lualaba and Tanganyika.

According to figures from the CTCPM, the total production of cassiterite is 19,532.55 tonnes and is distributed as follows:

– 12,622.37 tons of industrial exploitation; – 6,910.18 tonnes of artisanal mining.

As for the production of colombo-tantalite “Coltan” and wolframite, of exclusively artisanal origin, it is respectively 864.78 tons and 61.54 tons.

Breakdown by province of Coltan exports in the 1st half of 2022: 

– North Kivu: 555.72; 48%
– Upper Katanga: 326.93; 28%
– South Kivu: 142.36; 12%
– Tanganyika: 130.00; 11%
– Maniema: 10.34; 1%

With regard to the exports of the 3T sector, they are as follows:

• 20,814.79 tons of cassiterite for a value of USD 306,243,020.44 against 13,547.25 tons for a value of USD 152,310,836.00 in the 1st half of 2021, an increase of 7,267.54 tons or 53, 65%;

• 1,165.34 tons of coltan for a value of USD 40,241,040.00 against 738.83 tons for a value of USD 21,070,334.00 in the 1st half of 2021, an increase of 426.51 tons equivalent to 57, 73% and an increase in value of USD 19,170,706.00 equivalent to 90.98%;

• 123.54 tonnes of wolframite for a value of USD 1,394,333.20 compared to 322.12 tonnes for a value of USD 1,423,952.00 in the 1st half of 2021, a decrease of 198.58 tonnes equivalent to 61.65 %.
