Pioneer Lithium Fast-Tracks Uranium Strategy with Advanced Warmbad Project in Namibia

ASX-listed Pioneer Lithium has acquired and reviewed a substantial body of historical exploration data for the Warmbad uranium project in Namibia’s southern uranium corridor, significantly advancing its strategy in the nuclear energy space.

The data, sourced from the Namibian Ministry of Mines and Energy, confirms widespread, thick zones of uranium mineralisation consistent with alaskite-hosted systems such as those found at the globally significant Rossing mine.

Between 2007 and 2009, former operator Xemplar Energy drilled 161 reverse circulation holes and 11 diamond drill holes, totaling 31,685 metres.

These campaigns outlined three key mineralised zones—Areas 1, 3, and 5—each showing strong uranium continuity and significant expansion potential within alaskitic granites.

Now armed with this dataset, Pioneer Lithium says it holds a “material advantage” to fast-track resource definition over what it considers a highly prospective and underexplored system.

The 271 km² Warmbad tenement, held under Exclusive Prospecting Licence 8838, lies within the uranium-bearing Namaqua Metamorphic Complex.

At Warmbad, mineralisation is structurally controlled along fold hinges and northeast-trending faults, a geological setting directly analogous to Rossing.

Notably, Area 5 yielded multiple thick uranium intercepts, including downhole intervals exceeding 50 metres, and some holes returned up to 1% cumulative grade thickness of triuranium octoxide (U₃O₈). These zones remain open in multiple directions and at depth, providing strong targets for follow-up.

While the historical drilling is largely reliable, technical limitations—such as the absence of downhole deviation surveys and unoriented core samples—mean the data does not yet meet the standards for a JORC-compliant Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE).

To close this gap, Pioneer plans to launch a targeted drilling programme in the second half of the year, aimed at validating and expanding the historical data, refining the geological model, and advancing the project toward its maiden MRE.

“Warmbad gives Pioneer an immediate presence in a globally respected uranium jurisdiction with scale, geology, and infrastructure,” said CEO Michael Beven.

“It’s rare to access a project of this calibre at such an advanced stage. With nuclear energy reasserting itself as a key part of global energy policy, we believe Warmbad will become a flagship asset for Pioneer.”
