The DRC accelerates the process of launching its development bank

The Ministry of Finance has entrusted the FINACTU Group with the mission of supporting it in the operationalization of the Development Bank of the DRC. This Bank will aim to support the growth of the national economy by improving access to financing for Congolese companies and financing structuring public and private projects. It will make it possible to act on the consolidation of the role of the State in the creation of an ecosystem capable of making a real contribution to the development of the country.

Founded in 1999, FINACTU – made up of companies in Geneva, Paris, Dubai and Casablanca – is a consulting group dedicated to Africa, specializing in strategic and operational consulting and in  corporate finance .

“From the outset, the Ministry of Finance demanded that the new Development Bank be held to the highest standards. It is therefore a particularly demanding international benchmark that we have achieved throughout our mission, in order to win the support of all the stakeholders in the financing of the Congolese economy”, declared Géraldine MERMOUX, Associate General Manager. of FINACTU.

Hoping that this time will be the right one. As a reminder, the Congolese government had included, since January 26, 2016, among the ” 28 urgent measures for the stabilization and recovery of the national economy “, the creation of five specialized banks. Almost three years later, these specialized banks have still not been created. It is an agricultural bank, a mortgage bank, an SME/SMI development bank, a national investment fund as well as the transformation of the current Fund for the Promotion of industry (FPI) in Industrial investment banking.
