Zambia and Angola Sign Strategic Transport Agreements at Land-Linked Zambia Conference
During the Land-Linked Zambia Conference held at Ciela Resort in Lusaka last week, Zambia and Angola signed two landmark agreements to enhance bilateral cooperation in the transport sector.
The first is an intergovernmental agreement to develop the 830-kilometre Lobito Corridor, a vital infrastructure project that will link Zambia to Angola’s Atlantic coast.
Once completed, the corridor is expected to significantly boost regional trade, improve logistics, and foster economic integration across Southern Africa.
The second agreement focuses on aviation, establishing a regulatory framework to facilitate international air travel between the two countries and improve connectivity.
The agreements were signed by Zambia’s Minister of Transport and Logistics, Hon. Frank Tayali, and Angola’s Minister of Transport, Hon. Ricardo Viegas D’Abreu, during a high-level bilateral meeting held as part of the conference, which was dedicated to strengthening regional transport and infrastructure networks.
