3 NGOs in DRC welcome the establishment of an hydroelectric power station in the heart of Virunga park
The three member organizations of the coalition “ALL FOR THE DRC” and active in the governance of natural resources and the protection of the environment, congratulate, in a press release published on March 7, “SAVE VIRUNGA” based in North Kivu in the historic Virunga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, for having made the energy project of the American Howard Buffet, son of the American billionaire Warren Buffet, by building a hydroelectric power station in the middle of the park with the support of NGOs to fill the energy deficit, create wealth and jobs in this part of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
According to these three organizations, “this initiative is supported by the international community and mainly the western partners (American and European) of the country (and international and national Non-Governmental Organizations), some of whom are working with the Congolese government on the new policy. of ICCN (Congolese Institute for the Conservation of Nature) to develop viable economic projects in and around national parks including the construction of hydroelectric power stations ”.
Therefore, these NGOs call for support for all energy projects in Virunga Park and similar.
“In the same vein, the signatory organizations of this Communiqué invite all supporters of the energy projects of expatriates (foreigners) in Virunga Park to do the same, and without conditions or hesitation, towards similar projects initiated by Congolese citizens, nationals and beneficiaries, including those of TEMBO POWER of John Kanyoni in the province of Lualaba (Territory of Lubudi), GREAT LAKES of Yves Kabongo around the city province of Kinshasa and KIPAY ENERGY in the former triangle of death in Haut-Katanga province, Mitwaba Territory, ”said this press release.
For these three NGOs, these viable and ambitious projects belonging to nationals are a practical support for the “proactive policy of the Head of State Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi” to electrify the country thanks to private investments in sustainable job creators. , wealth and development of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
