Exports of mining products, result in a 5.1% increase in mining royalty- CCE/ DRC

Outgoing Prime Minister Ilunga Ilunkamba chaired this Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at the Prime Minister’s office, the weekly meeting of the Economic Conjuncture Committee to continue monitoring the socio-economic situation of the country. During this working session, the CCE reviewed the weekly economic situation for the period from April 12 to 16, completed by the Vice-Governor of the BCC as well as by the Minister of Mines.  

Regarding the evolution of the main economic indicators, the CCE notes that the weekly national inflation rate stood at 0.119% against 0.081% the previous week. The inflation of the week is mainly due to the rise in the prices of basic necessities.

The external sector reveals a depreciation of the FC in the indicative and an appreciation of 0.37% at the parallel against the US dollar on April 16 compared to April 9, 2021. For 1 US dollar the exchange rate was fixed at 1985 , 79 FC and the dollar in the code is at 2,016 FC at the parallel.

The CCE notes that during the period under review, mining activities took place normally throughout the national territory. There was an increase in the volume of exports of mining products resulting in a 5.1% increase in the mining royalty recorded and liquidated last week from US $ 13,800,285.95 last week to 21,487,744.92 $ this week.

Copper has resumed its upward trend and is trading at US $ 9,067.90 per tonne.

According to the CCE, the international context is marked by the launch on April 15 of the process of the 20th restitution of the resources of the International Development Association (IDA).

In addition, the national context is marked by the authorization on April 17 by the Commercial Court of Kinshasa Gombe of the conservatory seizure of claims on the assets belonging to the mining company KIBALI GOLD valued at US $ 1,113,800 for the mining company KILOMOTO. 

It was also noted during the meeting of the CCE, the organization, on April 13, 2021 of the round table on digital 2021 by the ministry of PTNTIC as well as the holding on April 16 of the 30th meeting of the monetary policy committee for 2021.

In terms of health, notes the CCU, covid-19 provides 2,895 8 cases of infected people were recorded against 2,854 April 2 to 9, 2021, or 414 new cases and 745 deaths, or no new cases for the second consecutive week.
