Overall Job Purpose

Responsible for the Community relations stakeholder management and providing leadership and technical expertise on structured management of the social compliance obligations

Specific Job Responsibilities

  • Management of the Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) compliance audits and obligations.
  • Managing cultural and traditional affairs that interact with KML mining activities
  • Stakeholder networking, grievance and relationship management through mobilisation of engagement platforms.
  • Moderation and protocol management especially during formal engagements with stakeholder.
  • Monitoring of economic performance indicators.
  • Promoting sustainable livelihood initiatives through mindset change programs.
  • Managing cultural and traditional affairs.
  • Risk monitoring and observing stakeholder conflict trigger points.
  • Structure planning, implementing and monitoring of activities.
  • Effective resource mobilisation and optimisation.
  • Promoting collaboration initiatives with external stakeholders
  • Facilitate and coordinate stakeholder engagement activities including Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) information sharing with internal and external stakeholders
  • Maintaining the stakeholder register through frequent stakeholder identification and mapping.
  • Structured management of social compliance obligations and social conditions of approval issued from inception of the project.
  • Facilitating monitoring of economic performance in all livelihood activities supported by Kalumbila Minerals Limited (KML) and sharing information with key stakeholder.
  • Promoting sustainable livelihood initiatives within KML catchment area.
  • Coordinating awareness activities with focus on managing conflict trigger points such as equitable sharing of benefits, management of impacts and cultural appropriate behavior.
  • Effective resource optimisation and promoting the duty of care within internal team members and external stakeholders.

Job Specific Competencies

  • Able to develop and manage financial budgets as well as manage commercial and procurement systems
  • Able to conduct field work with the field officers.
  • Good understanding of social performance monitoring tools with practical experience
  • Knowledge of existing social security and resettlement laws and regulations in Zambia.
  • Knowledge of International Financial Corporation (IFC) social performance standards.
  • Effective communication and emotional intelligence skills
  • Data analysis and manipulation skills (e.g. conversant with MS Excel)

Experience & Qualifications required to perform in this job

  • Relevant and practical experience of at least 5 years managing community relations and resettlement activities for large scale investments.
  • Practical experience in applying International Finance Corporation (IFC) standards and the Resettlement Legal Framework in Zambia.
  • Good understanding of the cultural context in Zambia and experience with traditional governance systems.
  • Degree (or equivalent) in Social Sciences or related fields.
  • A Master of Science in the relevant field will be an added advantage.
  • Specialized training in economic performance monitoring and IFC performance management.
  • Valid driving license with adequate driving competence.
