Partnership Between DRC & UAE Aims To Formalize Mineral Exports From Eastern Regions, Previously Controlled By criminal Networks.
The President of the Republic, Félix Tshisekedi, announced that for the first time in 30 years, the country has exported gold from small-scale production, thanks to a partnership between the DRC and the UAE.
The gold was exported through a new state-owned company, Primera Gold RDC SA, which manages the supply chain.
The President stated that the government is pleased with this progress, which aims to legally export minerals from Eastern DRC, where illegal activities such as looting and smuggling by criminal networks had previously controlled the mineral trade.

The President emphasized the need for all ministers involved in the reform process to take diligent action in order to achieve this goal.
The government has partnered with the United Arab Emirates to stop the illegal trafficking of gold, particularly to Rwanda. This partnership has led to the first shipment of 28 kg of fair trade gold, which was presented during a ceremony in Kinshasa.
The shipment is the result of the first five days of activity in South Kivu by Primera Gold DRC SA, one of the joint ventures created through this partnership. The general manager of the company, Joseph Kazibaziba, explained this further.
