Toyota aims to sell 1.5 million vehicles
Toyota Motor announced, Saturday 8th April, the intention to expand its catalog of electric vehicles, at the mercy of the introduction of 10 more models, still aiming to sell 1.5 million of these cars by 2026.
Toyota’s executive chairman, Koji Sato, quoted by EFE, was peremptory in saying that “we are going to do everything possible to move forward with electrification”, at the same time that we want to “achieve carbon neutrality”.
In addition to focusing on the production of fully electric vehicles, the brand wants to continue to focus on the production of hybrids.
Last year, the Japanese manufacturer sold 21,260 battery electric cars, which represents less than 1.0 percent of its global production.
According to data from S&P Global Mobility, this market is led by Tesla (1.27 million vehicles sold) and BYD (810,000).
