UNDP Botswana Collaborates with Kansanshi Mining Plc to Boost Local Business Development

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Botswana recently visited Kansanshi Mining Plc as part of an exchange program focused on Local Business Supplier Development. Facilitated by the Zambia Chamber of Mines and UNDP Zambia, the visit aimed to enhance understanding of Zambia’s mining industry and key interventions for promoting local business development.

Led by UNDP Zambia Economic Advisor Domingos Mazivila, the delegation, received by Kansanshi Mining Plc’s Corporate Affairs Manager Kyansenga Chitoshi, toured the mine site and explored the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives at the Kansanshi Community Centre.

UNDP Botswana’s Business Supplier Development Programme, aimed at diversifying the economy, creating jobs, and supporting local businesses, was a focal point of the visit.

By partnering with private sector entities like Kansanshi Mining Plc, UNDP Botswana seeks to unlock the potential of local businesses and drive sustainable economic development.

This exchange program strengthens collaboration, promotes knowledge sharing, and showcases successful Local Business Supplier Development initiatives. By fostering partnerships and sharing best practices, the UNDP and private sector partners work towards common goals of economic growth and sustainable development.

As the UNDP country office expands its Business Supplier Development Programme, visits like this to Kansanshi Mining Plc foster strong bonds and facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experiences.
