Alphamine produced 2,739 tonnes of tin in Q2 2020, up by 29% from Q1 | DRC

Mining company Alphamine produced 2,739 tonnes of tin in Bisié, North Kivu province, in the second quarter of 2020, exceeding its expected forecast of 2,400 to 2,600 tonnes, Agence Ecofin reports, citing Alphamin Resources, the company active on the project.

Similarly, the plant’s throughput increased by 8% and its processing capacity was even exceeded, encouraging the company in its performance improvement plans, the same source said.

It should be noted that these results enabled the company to record EBITDA of $12.9 million, an increase of 2%, with a margin of 32%. EBITDA is an English acronym whose meaning is “earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization”.

Based on performance, Alphamin is targeting production of between 2,600 and 2,800 tonnes of tin in the third quarter of this year.

Aplhamin operates in Walikale territory in North Kivu province in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Bisié is located about 180 km northwest of Goma, the capital of North Kivu province. Bisié is 60 km from the city of Walikale and 32 km from the national road linking Walikale and Kisangani. The Bisié project is a partnership between Alphamin Resources, the DRC government and the South African Industrial Development Corporation (IDC).
