Albert Yuma submits the problems faced by economic operators to Félix Tshisekedi | DRC
According to the president of the FEC, his delegation had an “important and long” meeting with the Head of State on the relations between the Congolese employers and the Congolese state represented by the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo. He said, “The meeting aimed at seeing how best to improve private and public relations as well as the business climate so that we can invest more in the country to give the Congolese state the opportunity to generate income. sufficient for the development of the population.”
“We gave him the picture of a difficult economic situation and the problems that economic operators encounter in the field of legal and judicial security, in the field of taxation, in the banking field, in the field of training, in infrastructure. All these things hamper investments while economic operators, including those in the State Portfolio, can contribute more. The president has promised that with the business climate unit he has set up, we will have a privileged interlocutor and regular dialogue. And it will take into account the priorities. He was also told about the current ad hoc problems in the agricultural sector, in the mining sector and in the petroleum sector. We also talked about the pandemic and its serious consequences. We must still address ourselves with determination because the impacts can be even more serious.” Declared Albert Yuma after the meeting.
The DRC’s economic operators have been severely impacted by the COVID-19 health crisis that has hit the country since March 10. Despite some fiscal and economic measures from which they were able to benefit from the State, they are still waiting for the government to do more, in particular, to improve the business climate and reduce taxation. However, the government of the DRC is experiencing major cash flow constraints that have even pushed it to suspend certain favors made to companies during the period of the state of emergency.
