Mopani Copper Mines Resumes Negotiations with Mine Union Leaders
Mopani Copper Mines has called upon Mine Union leaders to restart negotiations, which were halted in December of the previous year.
This move comes after investment from the United Arab Emirates-based equity partner, International Resources Holdings, into Mopani.
According to Mineworkers Union of Zambia President Mr. Joseph Chewe, workers at Mopani Copper Mines have been facing challenges in improving their conditions of service over the past 3 to 5 years.
Yossu Nyirongo, the General Secretary of the United Mineworkers Union of Zambia, stated that the unions anticipate negotiating improved conditions of service for their members.
