China State Construction Engineering to Support Kinshasa Expansion Project
The Chinese state-owned company, China State Construction Engineering, has pledged its support for the Kinshasa city expansion project.
This commitment was made during a meeting between Governor Daniel Bumba and a delegation from the firm on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at the Hilton Hotel.
This urbanization initiative aims to alleviate congestion in the Congolese capital and significantly reduce traffic and sanitation issues.
The project designates 486 square kilometers for the development of a new city, representing approximately 5% of Kinshasa’s total area.
Kinshasa authorities have selected China State Construction Engineering due to its extensive global expertise. The company has a proven track record, particularly in Algeria, where it has successfully completed numerous projects, including the construction of 43,000 housing units across 11 wilayas (regions).
Additionally, China State Construction has been responsible for key infrastructure developments in Algeria, such as the new university city of Constantine, the international terminal at Houari Boumediene Airport in Algiers, and 53 kilometers of National Road No. 1, which includes 17 kilometers of bridges and 3 kilometers of tunnels.
