The holder of this position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.
Key Responsibilities
Safety
- Ensuring safety to yourself & all personnel in the shift
- Ensuring safety of equipment in the shift
- PPE compliance to yourself, all subordinates and contractor employees
- Timely information/reporting to Shift Controller for issuance of safety PPE
- Report all non-conformances to Shift Controller
- Trial of equipment if standing idle for long time for safe working once started e.g. casting wheel simulation etc.
- Conduct 5 minutes safety talk
Housekeeping
- Ensuring good housekeeping around the section/area
- Implement standards in housekeeping
General
- Detailed handing and taking over shift and not to leave workplace without proper relieving of shift
- Coordination with service/maintenance agency/personnel
- Informing to your Shift Controller for any unlawful activity around your area
- Coordination with Shift Controller & Field Operators
- Coordination with anode furnace DCS operators, utilities and other related departments
- Intimating the process deviation to the sectional in charges
- Planning for anode casting and preparation for casting
- Ensuring 100% availability of the casting wheel
- Maintaining all the process parameters as per SOPs
- Meeting day to day production plan
- Fore seeing and planning of operations to avoid down times
- Reporting to the Shift Controller and get specific instructions regarding current process conditions
- Trouble shooting operational issues in the shifts and keep the production cycle on
- Takes care of field activities when there is no casting to run the shift smoothly
- Strict adherence to the SOPs
- Participating in improvement plans, suggestion schemes, cost saving campaigns & other company’s & self driven projects
- Timely reporting to Shift controller for high consumption, stock out of critical items for timely action
- Control or suggestion to control the cost, quality and process efficiency
- Maintaining the log sheets and reports up to date
- Filling of Mining Regulations register & track any abnormalities
- Any information other than mentioned shall immediately come under notice to Shift controller or Shift supervisor
Process
- Timely starting of casting and reduce the intermediate time between each casting
- Monitoring equipment & process
- Monitoring & timely action on deviation of the respective area process parameters
- Timely preparation for casting
- Ensure casting rate and anode quality is maintained according to business plan
- Timely intimation to the respective Shift controllers and respective field operators for prompt action
- Adherence to the SOPs
- Any other process parameters other than mentioned; which can improve/control/save company’s assets shall be viewed on day-to-day basis
- Qualifications
- Full Grade 12 certificate
- Diploma/Degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Equivalent.
- Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in the operation of Casting Wheel
- Proficient in the use of computers and standard computer applications such as Microsoft Excel

- High level of knowledge of plant equipment items and process

- EIZ and /or ERB
- MS office proficient
- DCS system
