DRC: Dan Gertler announces Partnership to benefit the Congolese from the wealth of copper and cobalt

The Israeli economic operator Dan Gertler announced, during a press briefing held this Monday, November 16 in Kinshasa, a specific initiative that offers all citizens the right to share the royalties from the cobalt and copper mining company Metalkol.

In his message Dan Gertler says he wants to make the Congolese people benefit from the wealth of copper and cobalt from mines in the DRC through the partnership he intends to launch before the end of 2020.

“I am happy to announce to you today, Congolese brothers and sisters, that we would like to invite you, all Congolese no matter where they come from Kinshasa, Bandundu, Katanga, Kasai. It doesn’t matter where you come from and be our partner. Come and enjoy the richness of copper and cobalt in the DRC. On each ton of copper or cobalt that will be extracted as part of the project that we are going to introduce, each Congolese will be a partner with us and will be paid for each ton that will be exported. We will offer a sincere, real, transparent partnership to the Congolese people. It is the first time in history that citizens will be the direct beneficiaries of Congolese wealth. We are determined. This plan will start before the end of the year, ”said Dan Gertler.

Israeli billionaire Dan Gertler has also called on the owners of mining companies operating in the DRC to align themselves with this initiative.

“And I encourage all my colleagues from mining companies here to come and follow this initiative. Share with our brothers and sisters in the DRC. It’s their copper, it’s their cobalt, in addition to the taxes you pay, ”he continued.

Regarding the media and NGOs who denounce the various implications of the boss of GLENCORE, in corruption cases, Dan Gertler is not going with the back of the spoon, to defend his skin.

“By knowing the history in Congo of certain NGOs and certain journalists. They will keep talking and never delivered anything to you, brothers and sisters. The same NGOs, the same journalists. They will all be wrong, ”defended Dan Gertler.

Dan Gertler has been under US sanctions since December 2017, it would seem, according to reports from NGOs on this subject, that he continues to act with impunity in the Congo, possibly helped by his affiliations with certain members of the Congolese elite. Reports from several member organizations of the “Congo is not for sale” platform still sound the alarm on Dan Gertler’s “bad practices” in Congo.
