Africa: Continent Exceeds 62,000 Covid-19 Deaths
As of December 28, confirmed cases of Covid-19 from 55 African countries reached 2,644,777. Reported deaths in Africa reached 62,375 and 2,211,387 people have recovered.
South Africa has the most reported cases – 994,911- and 26,521 people died. Other most-affected countries are Morocco ( 430,562 ), Egypt (131,315), Tunisia (130,230), Ethiopia (122,413), and Algeria ( 97,857 ).
The numbers are compiled by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University (world map) using statistics from the World Health Organization and other international institutions as well national and regional public health departments.
