Africa: Continent Nears 50 Million Covid-19 Vaccinations
As of August 10, confirmed cases of Covid-19 from 55 African countries reached 7,053,114 while over 49,798,860 vaccinations have been administered across the continent.
Reported deaths in Africa reached 178,168 and 6,169,946 people have recovered. South Africa has the most reported cases 2,540,222 and 75,012 people died. Other most-affected countries are Morocco (701,325), Tunisia (613,628), Egypt (284,789), Ethiopia (284,531), Libya (269,847) and Kenya (212,573).
The numbers are compiled by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University (world map) using statistics from the World Health Organization and other international institutions as well as national and regional public health departments.
