Africa: Covid-19 Death Toll Exceeds 91,000 Across Continent
As of February 2, confirmed cases of Covid-19 from 55 African countries reached 3,582,328 .
Reported deaths in Africa reached 91,480 and 3,073,258 people have recovered. South Africa has the most reported cases – 1,456,309 – and 44,399 people died. Other most-affected countries are Morocco ( 471,438 ), Tunisia ( 210,045 ), Egypt ( 166,492 ), Ethiopia ( 138,384 ), and Nigeria ( 131,918 ).
The numbers are compiled by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University (world map) using statistics from the World Health Organization and other international institutions as well national and regional public health departments.
