ARE gives a favorable opinion to the company Karpowership to deploy its 200 MW floating power plant in Matadi in the DRC

The Electricity Sector Regulatory Authority (ARE) granted a favorable opinion on the concession application submitted by the company Karpowership on Friday, October 14, 2022, and the notification was made to Mr. Zitouni Zyed Akram, Business Development Manager within the said company. 

Karpowership, a world-renowned company, wants to install a floating power plant with a capacity of 200 Megawatts, in Matadi, at Kongo Central. 

“Today the ARE kindly gave us the favorable opinion for our concession request for our 200 Megawatt floating power plant in Matadi”, indicated Mr. Zitouni Zyed. 

ARE’s experts carefully examined the company’s file before giving it approval for a concession. They studied the commercial, financial and technical details of the project, with a view to ensuring its conformity. 

“Our concession request has been studied by the ARE. They have provided considerable work given the specificity of our solution and the particularity of our technology which differentiates our solution and makes it suitable for the needs of the DRC”, confirmed the Business Development Manager of Karpowership.

Furthermore, Mr. Zitouni Zyed expressed his satisfaction with the work carried out by the AER. 

“We are satisfied with the move to ARE. And we are also very satisfied with the professionalism and rigor with which they handled our case, given its particularity,” he said.  

According to him, the deployment of their floating power plant is only a matter of days. 

“The Karpowership Project has the particularity of being deployed in record time. We can deploy our Powership in periods of around or even less than 45 days. So what remains to be done is the completion of the project…” , he said.
