ARSP Cancels Fraudulent Certificates for ERG Group’s Subcontractors in DRC

Michel Kashal, the Director General of the Regulatory Authority for Subcontracting in the Private Sector (ARSP), has taken decisive action against nine subcontracting companies associated with the ERG group. These companies were found to have fraudulently obtained registration certificates.

The announcement was broadcast on Monday, May 20, 2024, via Radio Télévision Nationale Congolaise (RTNC 1). Among the implicated subcontractors are METALKOL, FRONTIER, BOSS MINING, and COMIDE, all entangled in the practice of nominee registrations.

Following their removal from the subcontracting market in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the ARSP has recovered a substantial sum of $500 million. These funds will now fuel new calls for tenders.

In a significant move, the ARSP has also called upon the ERG Group’s main companies—those previously collaborating with the deregistered subcontractors—to initiate fresh tenders.

This strategic step aims to allow other companies registered in the ARSP database to bid for and execute the recovered contracts.

The ARSP’s mission aligns with the vision of Congolese Head of State, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi, as it seeks to foster the emergence of a robust middle class.
