ARSP Director Highlights DRC’s Value Chain Development at Indaba Mining

During the dynamic conference on the second day of the 30th edition of the Indaba Mining forum, Miguel Kashal Katemb, the Director General of the Regulatory Authority for Subcontracting in the Private Sector (ARSP), showcased the investment potential inherent in the development of the value chain in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to leaders of multinational companies.

Kashal emphasized the imperative implementation of the Law on subcontracting and elaborated on President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi’s vision for promoting local content to foster the emergence of a robust Congolese middle class.

“In the DRC, President Félix Tshisekedi recognizes that the dissemination of wealth among the population hinges on local content,” explained Kashal during his presentation to numerous delegates representing primary and subcontracting firms.

In addition, Kashal announced ongoing reforms to the Subcontracting Law aimed at bolstering local content and safeguarding the Congolese value chain.

This presentation provided attendees with deeper insights into the significance of nurturing the Congolese middle class.

“I come from Canada, and his discourse shed brilliant light on the economic and mining potential of the DRC, framing it within a perspective that underscores its potential to benefit the populace, which is encouraging.

The ARSP Director General has aligned with the Head of State’s vision, indicating the President’s commitment to attracting investors for Congo’s development,” testified a participant.

Kashal underscored that the DRC presents unparalleled investment opportunities globally.

As a tangible testament to investor confidence in the DRC, Kashal highlighted American billionaire Robert Friedland, President of the Ivanhoe Group, whose Kamoa subsidiary stands as a beacon of mutually beneficial investments in the DRC.
