Purpose of the role:
To assist the Electrical Supervisor with high voltage switching, skid transformer and switch gear repair and maintenance, dewatering/water management infrastructure operation, maintenance and repairs (inclusive of pumping and flocculation systems), workshop and other facilities repairs and maintenance, statutory checks and compliance. The scope includes Electrical HV and non-HV, as well as simple instrumentation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensuring that all maintenance and high voltage switching is carried out in a safe and efficient manner, to assure maximum reliability and uptime.
- Meeting set work targets for daily work group activities in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.
- Achieving results through prioritizing activities, monitoring the progress of assignments, and holding self-accountable for the results.
- Motivate yourself and others in overcoming obstacles and achieving goals.
- Planning & assisting in laying out of work on new projects.
- Ensuring optimum plant availability at all times through a focus on preventative maintenance, completion of planned maintenance, and defect reporting/fault finding for prompt resolution.
- Maintain and repair basic non-HV devices: simple LV and MV electric and instrumentation equipment.
- A proven ability to work with other disciplines to achieve minimal disruption to plant operating times
- Any other task as assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications & Experience
- Full Grade 12 Certificate
- Minimum Electrical Craft Certificate
- Valid Zambian driver’s license
- HV Switching essential
- EIZ certificate
- At least 2 years’ experience in similar role.
- Proven experience with electrical preventative maintenance with a focus on HV equipment, unplanned repair & installation tasks on plant equipment.
- Relevant experience in the mining industry
- Knowledge of instrumentation is advantageous
Job Specific Competencies

- Be familiar with motor control systems and motor protection relay’s and settings.
- Be able to read electrical drawings & fault finding
- Be familiar with various Instruments in the pit
