CAMI and Sankuru Collaborate for Mining Sector Development
On Thursday, July 25, the Director General of the Mining Cadastre, Popol Mabolia Yenga, met with the Governor and Vice-Governor of Sankuru province to discuss the current state of mining activities and policies aimed at fostering integrated development.
During the meeting, the provincial authorities requested detailed cadastral data and information on Sankuru’s natural resources, with a particular focus on potential mining assets.
DG Popol Mabolia encouraged the provincial leaders to explore all available development opportunities, highlighting Sankuru’s strategic position and its potential to become a pivotal province in the Democratic Republic of Congo’s economic corridors.
Sankuru is rich in gold, with numerous artisanal mining sites across its territories. However, most mining activities in the province remain informal, with significant production bypassing official oversight.
