On the ground with Kobold Metals at Mingomba in Zambia

Since minerals exploration and development company KoBold Metals announced it was investing $150 million in developing a copper deposit in Zambia’s Copperbelt Province, the media has been abuzz about the role that “artificial intelligence” and “machine learning” played in discovering what is estimated to be a reserve containing 247 million tonnes of copper with an average grade of 3.6%.  Mining For Zambia sat down with the company’s co-founder and President, Josh Goldman, to get an update on the project and find out how this mystical technology works.   KoBold’s innovative approach to mineral… Read More Here

Ivanhoe exploration updates in DRC’s Western Foreland licenses

Ivanhoe’s DRC exploration group is targeting Kamoa-Kakula-style copper mineralization on its Western Foreland exploration licences. The 17 licences in the Western Foreland cover a combined area of approximately 2,407 square kilometres to the north, south and west of the Kamoa-Kakula Copper Complex. The exploration group is using models that successfully led to the discoveries of Kakula, Kakula West, and the Kamoa North Bonanza Zone on the Kamoa-Kakula mining licence. The group is composed of a mixture of the same exploration geologists responsible for these previous discoveries as well as others… Read More Here

36 Diamonds Recovered at Lulo kimberlite L164 and kimberlite L056 samples

Lucapa Diamond Company and its project Lulo partners, Endiama and Rosas & Petalas, have recovered 23 diamonds from a second sample from kimberlite L164 and 13 diamonds from kimberlite L056. Lulo kimberlite bulk sample KBS/164/02, totalling 365 m3 of kimberlite material was processed through the Lulo Kimberlite Bulk Sample Plant, yielding 16.32 carats at a recovered grade of 4.47 cphm3, with the largest diamond recovered weighing 2.38 carats. This is the highest grade yet recovered from a Lulo kimberlite bulk sample and is very encouraging for an early stage, small sample.… Read More Here

Ivanhoe Electric stock surges on Santa Cruz resource update

Ivanhoe Electric (TSX: IE) has provided an updated mineral resource estimate for the Santa Cruz copper project located west of Casa Grande, Arizona, which now includes the first resource for the East Ridge deposit directly adjacent to the Santa Cruz deposit and for the Texaco deposit approximately 1.6 km to the northeast. This resource update is based on much higher cut-off grades than the 0.39% used in the December 2021 resource statement to account for the consistency and thickness of the higher-grade exotic, oxide and enriched copper domains. The resource… Read More Here

Quantum Battery Metals further Gears Up for Copper Demand

Quantum Battery Metals Corp., a battery metals mining company, has announced plans to review property acquisition for battery metal projects and expand its focus towards copper opportunities. A projected chronic gap between worldwide copper supply and demand, beginning in the middle of this decade, is expected to have severe consequences on the global economy and impact the timing of achieving Net-Zero Emissions by 2050. Copper is crucial for all energy transition plans, but the potential supply-demand gap is anticipated to be significant as the transition progresses. Quantum is actively engaging… Read More Here
