Epiroc, a leading productivity and sustainability partner for the mining and infrastructure industries, will relocate the production and development of drill rigs for surface construction from Japan to its facility in Nanjing, China. New South Wales-based Batt Mobile Equipment (BME) has announced the release of its first BIT120, a 20 t Integrated Tool Carrier battery-electric retrofit system. The first machine is being sent to Gold Fields’ St Ives mining operation in Western Australia on a 12-month hire agreement. Caterpillar has added several design enhancements to its 7495 HF Electric Rope Shovel models to increase machine reliability. The upgrades are applied to track or crawler frames, swing rack and rollers, as well as propel gearboxes and rotating undercarriage. The upgrades result in an improvement to the total cost of ownership of up to 6% per operating hour, Caterpillar said. For the track roller frame, Caterpillar reengineered the bolt-on design to eliminate the need for casting weld, increasing wear life and requiring no maintenance. Anglo American (LON: AAL) unveiled on Friday its first self-developed green-hydrogen powered truck at the Mogalakwena platinum mine South Africa, where it will eventually replace a fleet of 40 vehicles consuming each nearly a million liters of diesel a year.  The 2,000-kilowat hydrogen-battery hybrid haul truck, which is currently the world’s largest hydrogen-powered vehicle of its kind in operation, can carry a 290-tonne payload.
