Caterpillar expands its tech capacity in Bangalore
Caterpillar Inc. has inaugurated a new office in the suburb of Whitefield, Bangalore (Bengaluru) in Karnataka state to expand its digital capabilities.
Over the last 53 years, Caterpillar has invested significantly in India, establishing five state-of the art manufacturing facilities as well as two high-tech research and development (R&D) centres which today support 7,000+ employees.
The new office is designed to support the growing Cat Digital team, the tech arm of Caterpillar which helps it to drive forward its innovation goals.
The statement said: “The young team of software and data engineers, data scientists, architects, product managers, developers and testers from India, are leveraging advanced digital infrastructure and IoT intelligence to create smarter data driven solutions, optimising use and performance of heavy machinery.”
The office has an Employee Experience Centre and collaborative workspace and is located in the heart of the tech community in Whitefield. The office also features a lab set-up for teams within the Cat Digital organisation.
Akash Jain, India Leader, Cat Digital: “When we began our Bangalore operations in 2020 with a small team, our vision was clear: to invest in the right talent and technology to improve ownership experience of our customers. Talent is an important driver in our growth strategy, with India becoming a natural hub because of the rich tech talent pool.”
He added: “Today, we are a significant team of innovators, innovating on improved solutions and outcomes in fleet management, condition monitoring and e-commerce for Caterpillar customers and dealers.
This new office is both a recognition of the exceptional work our teams have delivered and an invitation to India’s talent pool to join us in shaping the future of innovation.” This new office space in Bangalore will house 30% of Cat Digital talent in India with the remaining 70% continuing to work out of the Chennai office.
