Claude Mianzuila, whistleblower and expert in diamond valuation in Mbuji-Mayi, has just been acquitted by the Secondary Prosecutor’s Office at the Mbuji-Mayi Peace Court in Kasai Oriental, two months after his arrest, confirms his lawyer. He was arrested following a complaint from Mrs. Linda KABU MUKENDI, wife of Mr. Jean Claude MAMPUYA, Financial Director of MIBA, who accused him of damaging charges.
In a statement sent to DESKECO.COM this Thursday, August 06, thirty-three (33) Member organizations of the Coordination of Civil Society Organizations, working for the promotion of the governance of natural resources in the DRC denounced the arrest and ” abusive detention ”since July 4, of Mr. Claude Mianzuila Disimba.
These civil society organizations believed that his arrest was due to his positions that tackle the financial embezzlement taking place within the Bakwanga Mining (MIBA).
“For having sounded the alarm on financial malfeasance within MIBA (Minière de Bakwanga), a state portfolio company in the mining sector in difficulty for two decades because of mismanagement, Mr. Claude MIANZUILA was illegally arrested since July 04, 2020 by the Congolese National Police before being transferred a few days later to the Secondary Prosecutor’s Office near the Mbuji-Mayi Peace Court ”, this statement informed.
