Delta Drone wins Anglo DaaS contract

Australia-headquartered drones-as-a-service provider Delta Drone International has signed an agreement to provide services to Rustenberg Platinum Mines’ Mogalakwena mine in South Africa.

Rustenberg Platinum Mines is a wholly owned subsidiary of Anglo American Platinum, the world’s largest producer of platinum.

The deal, which is worth approximately A$120,000 (US$ 87,792), includes drone-based end-to-end survey mapping, blast monitoring and inspection requirements for the mine by Rocketmine’s mining specialist pilots and drone fleet. Delta Drone’s drones-as-as-service model includes a tailored data solution designed specifically for the mining industry.

Christopher Clark, CEO of Delta Drone International, said that he thinks the company’s mining specialist brand Rocketmine can add real value to Anglo American Platinum as the company’s preferred data services provider.

“We welcome the Anglo American Platinum group to Rocketmine and look forward to delivering their real-time data needs through our fully integrated drone-as-a-service business,” he said.

Clark noted that outsourcing aerial requirements to Rocketmine can help to eliminate the challenges that arise from in-house aerial data collection, for example, rapid technology advancements or trying to adhere to rules and regulations. He added that the agreement provides Anglo American Platinum with access to a team of highly skilled individuals who are involved in daily operations to help solve any of the data challenges that businesses face.

He concluded: “We are very pleased with the momentum of new client wins being achieved by Delta Drone and continue to look forward with a high level of confidence. As drones are increasingly used at the forefront of data collection for enterprise businesses, our business is well positioned to work with more companies to help solve their day-to-day data challenges.”

In June, South32 renewed its contract with Delta Drone at its South African operations for a further five years. Last week, Delta Drone also won a contract from Barrick Gold for LiDAR services at its project in Mali.
