DRC: Alphamin produced more than 6,200 tonnes of tin in the first half of 2022
The mining company Alphamin produced a volume of 3,180 tonnes of tin in the second quarter of 2022. This information comes from the operational and financial report published at the end of last July, specifying that this brings the production of the first six months to 6,241 tonnes. of the year 2022.
On analysis, this performance represents an increase of 4% quarter on quarter. This puts Alphamin on track to achieve its goal of 12,000 tonnes of tin produced for the full year.
However, it is worth pointing out the fall in the firm’s EBITDA (annual turnover excluding tax), which fell from $98.1 million at the end of March to $67 million at the end of June. This drop could be explained by the reduction in the average selling price of tin, 35,345 dollars per ton in the second quarter against 43,834 $ per ton in the first, in a context of slowdown in economic activity in China during the period. , and therefore less demand.
The Aplhamin company operates in Walikale territory in the province of North Kivu in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Alphamin currently operates the Mpama North mine and is simultaneously working on a future production increase with the Mpama South project. The entire production is sold to the American Gerald Metals.
Thanks to its Congolese mine Mpama Nord, the mining company Alphamin produced in 2021 a total of 10,969 tonnes of tin, or 4% of the world supply.
