DRC: Didier Budimbu announces the launch of a call for tenders in January 2022 to award the oil blocks
A call for tenders for the allocation of oil blocks in the Democratic Republic of the Congo will be launched in January 2022, through the Ministry of Hydrocarbons.
The announcement was made on Wednesday November 10, 2021 by Didier Budimbu, Minister of Hydrocarbons in the DRC, from Dubai in the United Arab Emirates where he is taking part in the 27th edition of Africa Oil Week.
According to him, the Democratic Republic of Congo is full of many opportunities likely to boost the global economy and so far, the country has only used 4% of its hydrocarbon and gas reserves.
To attract investors, the Ministry of Hydrocarbons also relies on the large expanses of peatlands found in the DRC and which contribute enormously in climate regulation, thanks to the storage of carbon dioxide.
However, Didier Budimbu underlines that these calls for tenders in no way concern the deposits of the Parc de la Salonga.
” The latter in no way concern the deposits of the Parc de la Salonga “, insisted the Minister of Hydrocarbons.
Bringing the industry together under the theme “Succeeding in a Changing Market,” Africa Oil Week brings together industry thought leaders and government officials who will reshape the future of oil and gas in Africa.
This event received massive support from major oil, gas and energy organizations around the world such as TotalEnergies, Eni, Chevron, Equinor, Perenco, ReconAfrica, Seplat, Tullow Oil, Africa Oil Corp, PGS, Fugro and Africa Oil Week’s Business Intelligence partner, Wood Mackenzie.
Due to the focus of the organizers on the safety and well-being of the participants, the event is being held for the first and only time in the Emirate.
