DRC: Gécamines achieves a turnover of 324 million USD in the financial year 2020

Gécamines has just published its financial statements for the financial year 2020 with a turnover of USD 324.4 million against USD 246.3 million in 2019.

This turnover mainly consists of 42.6% of income from sales of mining products, 51.8% of income from royalties and no door and 5.6% of works and services sold (consultancy fees, school fees, medical recipes and others).

The result for the 2020 financial year is a loss of around 160.9 million USD compared to 140.3 million USD in 2019. This net result for the year was influenced by: – ​​depreciation, amortization, provisions and depreciations; – staff costs; – external services; – taxes and fees; – financial costs.

It is appropriate to indicate that in 2020, the appearance of the coronavirus disease pandemic, called Covid-19, impacted global and national economic activity, as well as that of GECAMINES, which had to implement , as part of the measures to combat the spread of the epidemic, a minimum service in most sectors of activity, for a period of four months, from March 26 to July 26, 2020.

We should also point out that the change in management at the Company, in execution of Presidential Ordinance No. 19/063 of May 29, 2019, with the taking up of new members of the Board of Directors of GECAMINES on May 26, 2019. June 2020 in Kinshasa, followed by the holding of the Ordinary General Meeting of the Company chaired by the Minister of Portfolio, representative of the Congolese State as sole shareholder, during which the members of the Board of Directors were appointed by resolution no. ° 1-AGO / 06.26.2020. Subsequently, on June 29, 2020, the handover and resumption ceremony, between the outgoing Managing Director and the incoming Managing Director, Sama Lukonde Kyenge, took place at the GECAMINES head office in Lubumbashi.
