DRC Generates Over $62.3 Million in Industrial Diamond Exploitation in 2022

The industrial exploitation of diamonds in the Democratic Republic of Congo generated revenues of around 62.3 million US dollars for the 2022 financial year.

This is what emerges from the annual report (2022) of the Technical Unit of Coordination and Mining Planning (CTCPM).

Compared to the year 2021 when the export of industrially mined diamonds by companies had generated revenue of around USD 52 million, there is an increase in revenue of more than USD 10 million between the two periods.

During the 2022 financial year, the SACIM company carried out exports estimated at 4,318,732.89 million carats of diamonds for revenues amounting to 62.2 million US dollars.

The KABE company, which produced only 4,015.08 carats of industrial diamonds, achieved revenues estimated at around 86,025.14 USD for the whole of 2022.

In addition, Minière de Bakwanga (MIBA), which was once the strong link in the industrial production of diamonds in the Democratic Republic of Congo, is not on the list of companies that marked the year 2022.

According to the CTCPM, industrial diamond production is valued at more than 4.3 million carats of diamonds.
