DRC Gold Prices Surge: One Gram Now Valued at $62.19 USD This Week

After copper and cobalt, the Democratic Republic of Congo also wants to focus on gold ore to increase its public revenue.

On the international markets, gold should experience a significant price increase during this week, inform the projections of the National Commission of Mercurial Prices of the Ministry of Foreign Trade of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

A gram of gold is expected to trade at USD 62.19 this week compared to USD 61.31 per gram last week.

From one week to one, this ore should record an increase of 0.88 USD per gram, the source informs.

In July 2023, thanks to the performance of the joint venture concluded between the DRC and the United Arab Emirates, the country exported more than three tonnes of raw gold from artisanal mining. Which brought in $1.2 million in revenue earned by the various Congolese state services at the end of August 2023.

According to experts in this sector, the Democratic Republic of Congo is capable, if all conditions are met, in particular by ensuring the transport and security of artisanal miners who are in the most remote corners of the country to reach the centers trading, to export more than 60 tonnes per year.

Experts from the National Mercurial Commission note that the general trend of mining products exported from the Democratic Republic of Congo is upward during the period from September 4 to 9, 2023 on international markets.

According to this note, a tonne of copper should trade at USD 8,377.70 this week against USD 8,269.60 per tonne a week earlier, an increase of around USD 108.1 this week.

During this period, a tonne of cobalt, considered an energy transition mineral, should sell at USD 32,733.00 per tonne this week compared to USD 32,728.00 per tonne a week earlier.

Zinc is projected at 2,391.50 USD per tonne this week compared to 2,301.10 USD per tonne last week, a slight increase of almost 90 USD this week.

Tin is also up and is expected to trade at USD 25,582.00 per tonne this week compared to USD 25,430.00 per tonne a week ago.

Gold ore will trade at $62.19 per gram this week from $61.31 per gram.
