DRC Mining Firm Employs Over 3,000 Congolese
Mining Engineering Company received a visit, on Saturday September 16, 2023, from a ministerial delegation composed of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Peter Kazadi; Minister of Finance, Nicolas Kazadi; of Industry Julien Paluku; and that of Agriculture, José Mpanda.
The delegation took stock of all the achievements of three component companies of this group which employs more than 3,000 Congolese in Greater Katanga.
Indeed, Mining Engineering Company not only contributes to the development of Greater Katanga through taxation (taxes) but it contributes to reducing the unemployment rate.
The group operates mainly in Katanga and is involved in a diverse range of activities: mining, mining subcontracting, construction, agri-food and most recently cosmetics.
Received by the boss of the Somika Group, Chetan Chug and the manager of Mining Engineering Company, Hitesh, the delegation began its visit with the Africa Milling company.
This large flour mill in Katanga not only supplies the miners with corn flour but also reduces the importation of this basic food product from Zambia and South Africa.
Here, the four Ministers were impressed by a fairly high number of agricultural tools which facilitate work in this factory: the latest machines, tractors, harvesters to name just a few.
Africa Milling is helping to put an end to the corn flour crisis that shook Greater Katanga in recent months.
Second stop of the visit, Raimbow which is none other than a manufacturing unit for powder, liquid soaps and detergents. The particularity of this factory is that 75% of it is run by courageous and hard-working women with the aim of contributing to their empowerment.
The ministerial delegation did not fail to encourage these brave women to move forward and support the economy of their province. Motivated, these women promised to give the best of themselves.
Last stop of the visit, the Congo Cable Transformers factory.
At this stage, the delegation saw how waste from mining products is transformed into electrical cables which are used by miners and also households.
At the end, the delegation expressed its satisfaction with this investor Chetan Chug who did not hesitate to invest millions in these factories making up the Mining Engineering Company group.
