DRC Mining in Lubumbashi: MMG demonstrated its capabilities with nearly $20 million already invested in local communities
The mining company Kinsevere (MMG) actively participated in the 17th edition of DRC Mining which ended on Friday in Lubumbashi, capital of the province of Haut-Katanga. This mining giant took the opportunity to welcome the resumption of these meetings which, for the general manager of MMG, constitutes a boon for the miners, the suppliers as well as the Congolese government.
“DRC Mining remains among the biggest events concerning the mining sector in Congo. This event brings together mining operators, service providers, the government and any other agency interested in mining. For us, after being two years without these meetings, it was a plus to come back on the scene and to see our various partners again”, explained, to ACTUALITÉ.CD, Michel Santos, manager of the mining company Kinsevere.
Also, he said, the interest of the mining company MMG in relation to the public.
” Today the activities of MMG interest the public because we let those who are not informed know what we are doing. Who is Kinsevere? It is a mine that has been operating in copper since 2006, Kinsevere is a mine that has a production of around 48,000 tons of cathode copper, Kinsevere is a mine which employs 788 agents, it is a mine which today has 94% of Congolese, Kinsevere is a mine which employs 15% of women in its staff. Kinsevere remains a fairly significant economic operator in Haut-Katanga, it is a mine which has specifications and which has invested 1 million 200 thousand dollars in social work for the communities. We have specifications over 5 years and have a budget of $6 million,” he continued.
The mining company MMG is also in the social. It positively impacts local communities. Since 2006 to date, Kinsevere has already invested more than 20 million dollars in several areas directly affecting the population living next to its mine.
“Today MMG remains a major mining operator in Haut-Katanga. It has been contributing in community investment since 2006 and to these days we have spent over $20 million in community investment through schools, agriculture , Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), infrastructure, drilling water wells, many initiatives that have contributed to improving the living conditions of the communities around its mine.Kinsevere also remains a civic society that contributes around the various taxes and royalties paid to the government of the DRC”, added the manager of MMG on the occasion of the organization of the 17th edition of DRC Mining in the city of Lubumbashi.
Kinsevere is a copper mine located in the province of Haut-Katanga, about 30 kilometers from Lubumbashi in the south-east of the DRC.
