DRC: more than 5.4 billion USD generated by the production and export of Gold between 2015 and 2019
The production and export of gold from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) generated revenues of around 5,492,424,428.13 billion US dollars, according to the statistical data contained in the sector directory of the Democratic Republic of Congo, 2020 edition.
According to this report, during the period under analysis, gold production amounted to 164,656.3 kilograms.
Of the 164,656.3 kilograms of gold produced on Congolese soil, nearly 162,765.94 kilograms were exported to the international market for this mining product.
Evolution of production and exports recorded between 2015 and 2019
In 2015, the Democratic Republic of Congo, through mining companies, produced 31,877.54 kilograms of gold.
Exports recorded during this year were valued at 31,790.76 kilograms.
This production of Gold of the Year 2015 generated revenues of around 1,072,288,550 billion US dollars.
The DRC will experience a slight drop in gold production due to reasons that were not mentioned in this report in 2016.
During this same year, the national production of gold is estimated at 30,663.84 kilograms of gold, i.e. a drop in production of around 1,213.7 kilograms.
As for exports during this period, they will amount to 30,177.68 kilograms.
Revenues generated by the production and export of gold in 2016 amounted to 1,219,488,315.50 billion US dollars, an increase in revenue of around 147,198,765.5 million USD in 2016 compared to compared to 2015, despite a drop in production.
In 2017, this production will rise a little to settle at 31,585.56 kilograms.
The same reference document indicates that exports during this year 2017 were estimated at 31,511.89 kilograms of gold. The revenue generated having reached the level of 1,086,756,311.33 billion US dollars.
According to this report, the best year of gold production in the Democratic Republic of Congo will be 2018, a period during which the country will record an increase in gold production established at 36,776.93 kilograms.
At least 36,190.21 kilograms of gold will be exported to the international market during the same period, generating revenues of around US$1,100,914,090.30 billion.
And finally, during the year 2019, this production will experience a fall, settling at 33,752.43 kilograms against 36,776.93 kg the year before.
This fall in production can be justified by the appearance of the Coronavirus pandemic in the world, although this will be declared the following year in the DRC.
Also during the same year (2019), exports of this mining product will amount to 33,055.40 kilograms, thus generating revenues of around 1,012,976,216.00 billion US dollars.
