DRC President satisfied with Government’s efforts to support local entrepreneurship
There are more and more public establishments dedicated to supporting entrepreneurship, particularly national micro-entrepreneurs in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The President of the Republic, Félix Tshisekedi, expressed his satisfaction with the efforts undertaken
by the Government in the operationalization of public establishments dedicated to supporting local entrepreneurship, in particular national micro-entrepreneurs.
During the meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Friday August 25, 2023, President Félix Tshisekedi indicated that the establishment of these structures dedicated to the promotion of entrepreneurship is in line with his desire to contribute to the emergence of a middle class in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
This would serve at the same time, as observed elsewhere, as a socio-economic base likely to favor the acceleration of the development process of our country.
To date, the Government of the DRC has already enabled the implementation of four structures, namely: the Guarantee Fund for Entrepreneurship in Congo (FOGEC); the National Agency for the Development of
Congolese Entrepreneurship (ANADEC); the Agency for the Promotion of the Congolese Middle Classes (APROCEM); and the Private Sector Subcontracting Regulatory Authority (ARSP).
The Congolese Head of State reiterated his admiration for the dynamism, creativity and fighting spirit
of a good fringe of young people listed in each of the provinces, and moreover in those plagued by a precarious security situation.
These young entrepreneurs, he said, stand out in particular in their desire displayed on a daily basis to
contribute, through entrepreneurship, to the constitution of a dense and diversified economic fabric in the agri-food, textile, services, insurance brokerage, rental of vehicles for transporting goods and people, as well as various subcontracting activities to large multinational corporations established in our various provinces.
Moreover, President Tshisekedi, who rightly measures this enthusiasm and this desire of some young Congolese to embark on entrepreneurship, intends to continue to encourage them to fill many jobs.
In this regard, he plans to organize a meeting with a sample of around a hundred young micro-entrepreneurs who are sufficiently representative at the national level to measure the interactions, the accompaniment, the support and the opportunities that their offer the public establishments mentioned above.
Félix Tshisekedi instructed the Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises and Entrepreneurship, in collaboration with his Cabinet, to organize this meeting in October 2023.
