DRC Prime Minister and Chinese Economic Council VP Foster Cooperation
The Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde, welcomed a delegation from China led by Shang Fulin, the Vice-President of China’s Economic and Social Council.
This visit, part of Shang Fulin’s participation in the General Assembly of the Union of Economic and Social Councils of Africa (UCESA), underscores the growing partnership between the two nations.
Following discussions, Shang Fulin expressed the delegation’s commitment to enhancing Sino-Congolese friendship and cooperation.
He highlighted the fruitful exchange of ideas and the consensus reached during their meeting. The focus is on expanding friendly cooperation and fostering a new era of friendship.
Furthermore, Ambassador Zhao Bin, China’s envoy to the DRC, emphasized the importance of implementing agreements signed during President Tshisekedi’s visit to China.
Both parties acknowledged the significant progress made in these projects and expressed their shared determination to deepen this win-win cooperation.
The future cooperation agenda includes a meeting hosted by the Economic and Social Council of China in mid-October 2023, with the participation of the President of the Economic Council of the DRC. This collaborative effort signals strengthened ties and bodes well for the future of Sino-Congolese relations.
