Production process and marketing of electricity from natural gas by Perenco is accelerating | DRC
The Democratic Republic of Congo( DRC) government had on Friday approved the Perenco project which is set to start producing electricity from gas produced by oil exploitation.
As a reminder, Perenco wishes to launch into the production of electricity from gas obtained from oil exploitation. Sylvestre Ilunga Ilunkamba had on Thursday September received 3 members of the ad hoc committee set up for the project. This project was presented by the Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons to the Council of Ministers where Félix Tshisekedi had instructed the Head of Government to examine this file in depth.
Members of the government dealing in particular with Planning, Budget, Interior and Security, International Cooperation and Regional Integration, Decentralization, Hydraulic Resources and Electricity, Hydrocarbons, Environment, Justice, Scientific Research, Communication and Media, Social Affairs and ESU, as well as jurists from the Presidency of the Republic and the Prime Minister’s Office also took part in this session.
The commission worked and the conclusions were transmitted to the last meeting of the Council of Ministers which validated the project.
As a reminder, in the oil sector, Perenco operates 11 onshore and offshore fields in the DRC for an average production of 25,000 boepd. The onshore drilling program, which started in 2002, has brought about 25 wells into service per year.
All gross production is transported to the Kalamu floating terminal, which has a storage capacity of one million barrels of oil.
