DRC Reports Strong H1 2023 Gold Exports at $677.3 Million
The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) exported 15 tonnes of gold during the first six (6) months of the current year (2023) to international markets.
According to the report of the Technical Cell of Coordination and Mining Planning of the Ministry of Mines, this volume of export of Congolese raw gold generated revenues of around 677.3 million US dollars during the first half of 2023.
Indeed, the Kibali Gold company exported more than 13 tonnes of gold estimated at 556.1 million US dollars. On the other hand, the MCCR company only exported 15.83 kg for revenues estimated at 847,103 dollars.
The source informs that the majority of gold exports in kg of industrial exploitation comes from Kibali Gold with 88% in quantity and 0.12% for MCCR.
Regarding exports of raw gold from artisanal mining in the first half of 2023, they are estimated at more than two (2) tonnes for revenues estimated at $120.3 million.
Gold exports in kg of artisanal mining come from South Kivu at 96.86% followed by Tanganyika with 1.63%; the province of Kinshasa at 0.56% followed by Ituri with 0.53% and Tshopo with 0.43% in quantity.
