DRC Senate denies connections between Modeste Bahati and Regal Mining, listed as illegal Miner in South Kivu
The Senate Communication Unit, in a press release dated September 3, 2021, denies the allegations that the company Regal Mining, indexed in the illicit exploitation of mines in the province of South Kivu, is owned by the President of the Chamber. Upper Parliament, Modeste Bahati Lukwebo.
“Contrary to the rumors circulating on social networks, since Friday September 3, 2021, passing Professor Modeste Bahati as the owner of the company Regal Mining which would illegally exploit the minerals in the province of South Kivu, we are keen to inform the opinion that the said society does not belong to the President of the Senate or to a member of his family ”, notes the Communication Unit before challenging and warning the authors of these insinuations.
For the Communication Unit, these intoxes are the work of Modeste Bahati’s detractors who want to tarnish his brand image because of his commitment to support the President of the Republic, Félix Tshisekedi, in his vision of making the DRC a true state of rights.
In an investigation disseminated last week by two French media, an allegedly Chinese mining company, according to these media, would illegally exploit minerals in the province of South Kivu.
