FQM Empowers Local Entrepreneurs with Business Clinic in Kalumbila

First Quantum Minerals (FQM) has once again opened its doors to local entrepreneurs by hosting its annual business clinic in Kalumbila, aimed at empowering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Held in collaboration with the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA), the event attracted government officials, financial institutions, and industry leaders under the theme “Driving Local Economic Growth Through Sustainable Partnerships.”

The clinic, organized by FQM’s Trident Foundation, focuses on integrating local businesses into the mining supply chain, offering practical knowledge, networking opportunities, and support to foster SME growth within the North-Western Province.

Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises Development, Hon. Elias Mubanga, commended the joint efforts of FQM and ZDA, calling on other mining companies to emulate these initiatives to boost local economic development.

He stressed the importance of such platforms in providing local businesses with access to new markets, which accelerates Zambia’s economic progress.

FQM Country Manager, Dr. Godwin Beene, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting local businesses and contributing to Zambia’s broader developmental goals.

Over the past four years, FQM has provided K6.7 million in microfinance grants, benefiting 145 businesses through training and financial support.

ZDA Regional Coordinator Andrew Hachibe revealed plans to expand the partnership with FQM, pledging more impactful initiatives and streamlined processes to support aspiring entrepreneurs.

The FQM Trident Business Clinic continues to be a key driver of local economic growth in Kalumbila, helping small businesses seize new opportunities while contributing to Zambia’s national development goals.
