Haut-Katanga, Lualaba, Kongo Central, Tanganyika and Maniema, the 5 provinces with more mining titles in 2021- DRC
The Technical Unit for Coordination and Mining Planning (CTCPM) listed, in its annual report for the 2021 financial year, a total of 2,916 mining titles throughout the national territory of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The same report indicates that the provinces of Haut-Katanga, Lualaba, Kongo Central, Tanganyika and Maniema are those with the most mining titles during the year period under analysis.
Ranked first, the province of Haut-Katanga has a total of 699 listed mining titles, of which 422 listed mining titles are considered active. According to the same source, 64 other mining titles should be forfeited by the competent authorities for lack of payment of duties due to the Congolese public treasury.
It should be noted that Lualaba comes in second place with 542 listed mining titles.
While the province of Kongo Central ranks third with 233 mining titles, this ranking is completed by the province of Tanganyika with 231 mining titles and 154 mining titles recorded in the province of Maniema.
According to the Ministry of Mines, the data for 2021 reflects the dynamism of the mining sector in the Democratic Republic of Congo. A buoyant sector that remains competitive, attractive but also resilient.
Despite the effects of the global health crisis due to the Covid-19 pandemic, activities in the Congolese mining sector remain active.
