In 2022, DRC’s Zinc production reached 13,578.30 tonnes
Zinc production in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) recorded, during the year 2022, a lower level than the year 2021.
According to statistical data published by the Ministry of Mines, during the aforementioned period, mining industries operating in the Democratic Republic of Congo produced 13,578.30 tons of zinc.
The same source indicates that during the year 2021, zinc production in the Democratic Republic of Congo was 16,079.39 tons.
In 2022, the export volume of zinc was 13,578.30 tons against 16,079.39 tons the previous year.
The zinc price is slightly down this week on the international market.
According to industry experts, the price of zinc is hurt by the jump in stocks stored in Shanghai and the demand which remains flat in China, despite the lifting of restrictions.
Zinc has lost 1.7% since the open and is trading, this Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at 3,133.50 USD per ton. LME zinc stocks are currently at their lowest level since 1989, while they have surged in China.
