KCM Partners with ZAMM-IMPORTS for Road Rehabilitation in Chingola and Chililabombwe

Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) has entered into a strategic partnership with ZAMM-IMPORTS to supply construction materials for a major road rehabilitation project in Chililabombwe and Chingola.

This initiative, part of KCM’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, aims to enhance critical road infrastructure in the two districts.

Under the agreement, KCM will provide ZAMM-IMPORTS with sand and crushed stones at a minimal cost for the next two years. These materials will be used to rehabilitate a 20-kilometre stretch of roads, improving connectivity and accessibility for local communities.

During the signing ceremony in Chililabombwe, ZAMM-IMPORTS Operations Manager Dennis Mulawisha expressed the company’s readiness to establish a crushing plant at Konkola Mine to facilitate material procurement for the project.

“Now that we have signed the contract, we will commence the 20km road construction in Chingola and Chililabombwe under our CSR program at a lower cost, thanks to the affordable materials provided by KCM.

Our crushing plant will be set up at No.1 Shaft in Chililabombwe, ensuring easy access to the required materials,” Mulawisha stated.

KCM’s CSR Manager, Brian Siatubi, welcomed the collaboration, emphasizing its alignment with the company’s commitment to community development.

“Good roads are essential for accessibility to key services, economic growth, safety, and overall quality of life. This partnership is a step towards achieving those goals,” Siatubi noted.

As part of its broader infrastructure development plan, KCM will also upgrade four kilometres of selected roads in Chingola, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable community growth.
