The Role

The purpose of this role is:

To be responsible for the development of the business and relationship with the Chinese customers in the Sales Area. Key aspects of the responsibilities are building long-term relationships and expanding business opportunities, which require detailed and profound understanding of the account´s strategic goals, business targets and operational needs as well as Sandvik Mining´s capability to offer products, services and systems to meet these needs and to enable the best long-term mutual value.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Ensure that Sandvik Central Africa values are strictly adhered to in all business dealings (directly and indirectly) with Chinese customers in Central Africa

A deep understanding of Chinese business practices and procedures especially mining contractors and mining companies. This requires involvement with compilation of major tenders and long term contracts using the existing common resources and support within Central Africa

The role will be responsible for developing and implementing a long term strategic plan (including organization) for Chinese business in Central Africa

Work with relevant Parts, Service and Tooling Representatives and Business Line Managers on customer strategies that will affect the revenue and business profitability of Central Africa

Responsible for monitoring Chinese competitor activities and directing account management term members to accomplish the goals and objectives of the Chinese business strategy for Central Africa

Long term planning and annual budgeting in respect of the Chinese customers i.e. coordination of individual long term plans and budgets

Your profile

Degree/Diploma in Business/Engineering (Mechanical/Industrial/Electrical/Mining) or 10 years’ experience in a Mining, Technical and Sales environment

5 years’ experience in sales/marketing (including management) in mining and/or construction fields in China

3 years Management experience in the Technical product field

Sandvik product knowledge with primary focus on underground equipment

Strong technical background across engineering disciplines

An understanding of business process and internal controls

Home language – Mandarin and /or Cantonese

Fluency in English mandatory, French would be a significant advantage

Excellent organizational, planning & time management skills

Computer skills as appropriate

Understanding of budget control

Physical fitness certificate to visit surface and underground mines

Valid Driver’s License to drive in Zambia (Or to be obtained within 3 months)

Engineering Institute of Zambia Membership.
