The Minister of Mines, Antoinette Nsamba Kalambayi, received in audience, on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, a delegation from the mining company called Kivu Holding Mining SARL (KHM).
On the menu of their exchanges, the project to build a refinery in Goma.
For the delegation of Kivu Holding Mining, the lack of refinery in the eastern part of the Republic would be the basis of the repeated wars that the country is currently experiencing.
“We presented to the Minister of Mines the project to build a refinery in the city of Goma. We have found that the war we have in the East is due to the lack of refinery.
We also introduced him to the partners to successfully carry out the mineral purchasing and processing service”, explained the Managing Director of Kivu Holding Mining, David Kikuni.
In addition, David Kikuni noted the fact that the aggression in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, repeatedly denounced by the political authorities, is essentially economic.
He advocates the creation of local refineries with a view to channeling mining products and avoiding their wastage.
Convinced of the relevance of the project, the Congolese Minister of Mines promised to support the company KHM SARL in the implementation of this project with strong potential for economic growth.
